hemlock ring blanket

Well, here it is. The item that has consumed so much of my being that I couldn't even blog. I finally finished this silly thing! It actually didn't take as long as I expected it to. And thank goodness cause it didn't turn out just as I wanted it. But it was a great lesson learned. And they are: 1) use bigger needles to avoid the puckering 2) use cotton
I think these two things will make me a much happier hemlocker. : )

though i think i'll take a break from the poison for a while. i need to recuperate from that one. and what's better medicine than socks! that's right, i started my first sock this week. i had been greatly disappointed when i found out that i didn't get in the loopy ewe sock club but i was quickly giddy again when i learned i had won a skein of sock yarn from knit sibs.

by the way, have you been listening to knit sibs???? they have a fun podcast - anyone who knits, or has sisters, will relate with lots of laughter. here's a list of some of my favorite podcasts:
knit sibs
knitters uncensored
she-knits
it's a purl man

if you haven't been listening... you really should.

*cool link*
actually i guess this would be a warm link : P because it's winter here and my old drafty house has more breezes than a Caribbean beach, i thought i'd share with you one of my most favorite craftys - drafty door stopper comes from the tremendously talented Megan of not martha. if you've got a hankerin for something to make... go have a sit with Megan. she's got something for everyone.

*what's up for this week?*
well i have plans to finish my first sock and start my second. other than that, i'm just not sure what else i want to work on. i need some new ideas. i have a ton of baby yarn that i need to either get rid of or knit up. but i don't really have any babies anymore : - ( i know, i know. i could actually knit something for someone else.... which is what i usually do. most of my knitting goes to other ppl. but i need to trudge through the baby patterns at ravelry and find something wonderful to make. if you have any suggestions leave a comment or send it to me through email or ravelry.

Not much time at the moment but I just had to tell you.... I cast on the hemlock ring blanket last night. And I LOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!! This blanket is everything everyone has said it would be. Never have I enjoyed knitting a blanket so much. It's like a good book you just can't put down. Every round leaves you yearning for the next.

I'm hoping to post some pics tonight of my work so far. For now, take a peek at Jared Flood's work here. If you haven't knit this yet.... you'll want to - trust me. : )
